While our children do meet in classrooms while their parents go to the service in the Main Meeting Room, these meetings are so much more than simple "Sunday School!"
First, we are committed to being advocates for all of our children. We are constantly striving to broaden our understanding of differences in learning styles and challenge ourselves to provide the most enriching Sunday morning experience for our children.
Our formal Religious Exploration Program for children and youth runs from September through June, for pre-k through high school. Pre-k through fifth grade students meet in a multigenerational setting utilizing the Spirit Play curriculum.
For infants and toddlers, the Nursery is available every Sunday during services. It provides a cozy environment for childcare, with its own bathroom. It is immediately adjacent to the East Wing Kitchen and has its own exit directly to the rear yard, adjacent to the playground.
As part of our Coming of Age program, middle school and high school youth can participate in the age-
appropriate Our Whole Lives (OWL) program. This program, jointly developed by the United Church of Christ and the Unitarian Universalist Association, provides a healthy and comprehensive approach to issues of human sexuality and relationships. The teachers for OWL and volunteers from the congregation, receive special training. For more information on OWL, click on the bottom right picture.
The second part of the Coming of Age program partners each youth with an adult member and focuses on exploring life values through a series of evening workshops, field trips and activities, culminating in a weekend long "VisionQuest," where each youth develops a personal creed and participates in a Sunday morning service designed to honor their passage from childhood into adolescence (not quite adulthood!)
